Masonry Has Begun

Brickwork has begun on the back of the house and the installation of the two masonry fireplaces (which have passed inspections).

Floor Plan Modifications

Walking the house after framing, we made several changes to the plans we feel improve the flow of the house.  Changes are as follows:

  • On the main floor, the dining room is 2 feet larger by creating a niche for a hutch or buffet
  • The cased opening between the family room and the kitchen is now 5 feet wider to create a more open floorplan
  • The direction of the stairs was reversed for safer accessibility into and out of the elevator
  • Perimeter cabinets and island were redesigned and the hutch relocated
  • Master suite redesigned creating a more open feeling between the sitting area and the bedroom.  A dressing area was created between the two walk-in closets.  A totally redesigned master bath.

Changes…

We are currently implementing changes to the second floor master bedroom and bath and slight modifications on the first floor – making the dining room larger.  We will post the changed floor plans as soon as we receive them from the architect.

More Framing

These framers are awesome!

Framing Day 4

Second floor has been installed and we’re setting the second floor walls today.

Framing Day 2

Floor Joists – Our pet peeve is when you walk across the floor and the glasses in the china cabinet rattle.  Code says the floor joists required to be 19.2” on center.  For a more solid floor, our joists are 16” on center.  No glasses rattling when you walk across our floors.

Framing Begins!

Framing started today with the setting of the steel beams and the basement walls.

Ready to Begin Framing

Panels, miscellaneous lumber and steel delivered.

Basement Slab Poured

Termite treatment has been completed and the basement slab poured.  Notice the recessed area for the elevator pit.

Waterproofing

Underslab plumbing passed County inspection this morning and the foundation walls received their waterproofing treatment.

Increasing Interest

We have been receiving calls from people interested in purchasing this home.  If you are interested, this home’s anticipated completion date is November 1 and the price is $2,389,000.  Please call Ken at 703-431-4596 with any questions or interest.

Remember, we can build this house on your lot or help you find a lot.  We can also build another home from our portfolio, or build a custom home of your choosing.

We’re really excited to be on the cover (the cover!) of the summer issue of Building & Construction Northeast .  Thanks for looking.

Grounds Work

The plumbing ground works were installed today.  We’re ready for county inspections on Monday.
